When you enjoy music and it is more than just a hobby, it could probably be called a passion. All your money is spent on CD’s and records, going to festivals and gigs. It’s all about finding out who’s new and whose old and out of the scene. It is important to keep ahead of people and know who is %u2018the next Madonna or Elvis’. The only way is to listen too as much radio as you can and have a look on the internet for new bands. It is very important to follow good local bands as well, because even the Beatles started at the bottom.

Depending on what sort of music you like there is plenty to get involved in, for example if you are strictly heavy metal. There are plenty of forums on the internet where you can ask other people what bands are currently in or gaining recognition within the music industry, people will be happy to give you names of bands they like and you can try listening to them yourself to find out if you like them.

I have a more eclectic taste so I will go to a variety of different music venues as long as think I might experience some music that I enjoy. Sometimes I look at radio station websites and look to see who’s new and current. I have a regular music magazine that I always read on a Sunday, and that gives me inspiration for what current music scenes to check out. For example I found an awesome little band called human resources software that truly blew me away at a gig the other night.

You might have heard of the underground music culture, this is just some non-celebrity people having a musical session somewhere local, they could be rappers, heavy metal heads, ragga muffins or jazz enthusiasts, but the main thing is that they are all doing it for the love of music so the atmosphere is electric and can be more enjoyable than going to see a mainstream artist that is told what to do, sing and dance, as this can be too staged and ultimately result in a poor show. So look out for posters and up and coming gigs, look in magazines and maybe you will discover the new stereophonics.

My heart will always lie in metal music, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Metallica and Megadeth will always be on my play list, but there is always room for other music, especially new sounds that come in to my life and blow me away. So i want to tell you about a duo and an album that did just that, a sound that is a far cry from metal music but truly resonated with me in a magical way!

Recently I came across Angus and Julia Stone, who are accomplished and successful musicians in their genre, so I am kind of a giant leap behind when it comes to these guys and their music. I first came to be aware of the duo when I saw their picture in a magazine, sat in a beautiful meadow, imagining them playing with guitars and backgammon sets i was intrigued by the brother and sisters'bohemian appearance and style and felt the urge to find out more.

Angus and Julia Stone hail from Newport in Sydney Australia and are spawned from folk music performing parents. Angus and Julia were consequently exposed to music from an early age and both learnt to play instruments whilst growing up. Their sound is very much folk inspired, infused with soul and blues. After listening to a few of their songs on youtube to get a general feel for their sound I was instantly compelled to download an album and hear more.

The duo have produced six extended plays and two albums to date and I downloaded their 2010 album ‘Down the Way'which had reached the dizzy heights of number one in the Australian album charts! I can honestly say this has become one of most favourite albums of all time, the songs are so beautiful and easy to listen to, I must have gone through the entire record a hundred times already. You guys should all do the same, i am almost certain you won’t be disappointed!

When two of the current giant of the hip hop genre come together what can we all expect….Greatness!! “Watch the Throne” is the much-anticipated and much-delayed collaboration between two titans of hip hop, Jay-Z and Kanye West. Released on August 8, the album is as larger than life as the two artists behind it.

Produced by powerhouse music makers such as Swizz Beatz, RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan, Hit-Boy, No I.D., Neptunes, DJ Premier, Jugganauts and Q-Tip, the album pulses with over the top excess. The album also features the vocal talents of Frank Ocean, Beyoncé, and La Roux, as well as Otis Redding, who is sampled extensively in the track, titled, appropriately enough, “Otis”.

While the opulence of the production and the artists are reflected in the music, with loads of name dropping and name-brand dropping as they extol their successes, the rappers also attempt to address deeper issues, ruminating on the American dream in “Made in America”, addressing their future children in “New Day”, and questioning black on black crime in “Murder to Excellence”.

The album is uneven, with highs and lows throughout. “Made in America” is one of the high points, being not only musically brilliant, but also packed with thought-provoking lyrics and delivery. These guys may not get any English teaching jobs but their lyrical content was bordering on brilliant.

The album could not possibly live up to the hype and expectations, and it doesn’t. Despite this, the contrasting yet similar styles of the artists, and the themes they cover, is an interesting, and often enjoyable, study.

Are you unlike other girls? Are you a Tomboy? I tend to relate better to guys than I do with girls, so I have some great ideas for you women who just want to be one of the guys.

· Stand out: If you want to be accepted as one of the guys you need to be less girly and more like them. They need to feel that you are a friend more than you are a female.

· Be into guy stuff: Guys will be impressed if you enjoy movies like Pulp Fiction or Fight club. Wrestling, football, video games are hobbies that several guys enjoy as well. If you are interested in these hobbies then guys will be impressed with you. Some guys are even into fixing computers, so if you know something about apple mac repair London you can share your knowledge and amaze them.

· Sports: Guys absolutely love sports and several of females do too. If you can play sports with them they will have a great respect for you.

· Joke: Be sure you are fun to be around, that you are able to let loose and have a great time. However don’t be emotional with the guys as they are limited in how they express their feelings.

· Clothing: Don’t dress too much like a girl. You can wear nice clothes but if you wear girly girl stuff guys may shy away from you.

If you are anything like me you cannot blend in with other girls, so if you want to be one of the guys follow the above tips and make some friends to really enjoy life.

So I’ve been taking a bit of a change of musical direction just recently – not in my playing but in listening terms. Obviously I’m never going to lose my love of classic death metal – after all, music can never ever get better than when you have loud guitars playing really, really fast. But I’m trying to expand my listening to increase my range of influences. I know that sometimes that can feel a little bit like spending your holidays camping then changing things round so that you’re only ever going to Hotels in Looe. But that feels like a small price to pay for the much bigger range of inspiration I now have access to.
Some of the things I’ve been hearing lately include quite a lot of Estonian composer Arvo Part (apparently one of the leading figures in a movement called “sacred minimalism”. So I guess classical musicians are as crazy with their genre names as us more rock and roll types). He does these really pared back pieces for a couple of instruments that go on quite repetitively for seven or eight minutes. It’s a bit weird but kind of hypnotic and oddly powerful after a while. And I’ve also been checking in with college rock giants Death Cab for Cutie, who always seemed pretty banal and whimsical to me, but who have a nifty line in songwriting. I guess what I’ve learned from all this is not to be too rigid about the kinds of music I listen to!

I am a bartender and I absolutely love my job. Have you ever wondered how you could become a bartender as well? Bartender is a branch of hospitality industry which is attracting more and more young people. It’s a job for those who are interested in serving others. Being a bartender requires you to have energy and creativity. Bartenders often have a very good insurance policies but you probably won’t get kit insurance. You can be a bartender in bars, night clubs and even on cruise ships.

Being a bartender can provide you with numerous opportunities. If you bartend in a posh bar or club you can get close to the rich and powerful. Bartenders are needed at airports, in discos, and nightclubs moreover catering businesses need bartenders as well.

Becoming a professional bartender allows you to work in many different places. Always try to improve your skills and your job opportunities will increase. Watch other bartenders and adapt to your job situation. I love my job as a bartender because it has allowed me to meet so many people and have fun while serving others.

We have all have wished at some point of our lives – what would life have been if Pandora had not opened the box of troubles? We would have been busy merry making and living happily ever after!

Him & Her is a 30 minute comedy sitcom which plays out exactly this dream for a couple, Steve and Becky. Produced by Big Talk and aired on BBC Three on every Monday at 10.30 pm, this hilarious series is about a couple who have no ambitions, no plans for life and are in no hurry to go anywhere in life! Living off their State funds the couple just have one objective – to enjoy each other on Steve’s bed.

Steve at 25 years of age loves to eat, drink and have sex, Becky at 24 years finds working a big hassle, something that can be completed avoided. No pushover, Becky is adored by her friend and family alike while Steve usually cannot fathom what goes around her mind. Becky can see through Steve pretty well, leaving him vulnerable and usually at the receiving end of Becky’s mean tongue, though both know within themselves that they are good for each other and have infact found their soul mates.

People come into their lives and usually upset their schedule, because they don’t leave as easily. Their lonely and love hungry neighbour Dan always finds some reason to visit them while Becky’s sister Laura and her fiancé, a well played out loveably psychotic character.

Russell Tovey of the Little Dorrit and Being Human fame plays the role of Steve while Sarah Solemani (Surbaban Shootout) essays the perky Becky. The series is by Stefan Golaszewski and includes the minute details of a relationship including the farts, warts and wrangling involved in keeping one alive.

Watching this sitcom series is like watching our own selves live out that often dreamt about fairy tale where life is limited to wondering about what to order in as food and how soon to get into bed with our partner, whether in our own house or in some hotel in Looe! It would be a good idea to record this series and turn it into a funny video and relive the moment whenever time permits in our totally busy and stressful lives!

The British comedy troupe Monty Python once observed that American beer is a lot like making love in a canoe. Why this is so is not something that needs to be elaborated on, although any fan of Monty Python already knows the next line. Fosters beer adverts lets someone know how to speak Australian, which is probably a separate language from what they speak in England, American. I am of course aware of the differences between British American and Genuine American.

Perhaps the one that leaves me the most confuse is the one the ad that gives the viewer the definition of a man purse. We see a someone, ostensibly a worker, come out and put a large purse into an apparently well-use sack. He walks away with the wrench on his back, perhaps going to fight some Mad Max style biker gang with the item. When he starts to walk off into the sunset, we hear the narrator say “man purse.”

Although the man purse does exist, and the most famous example is Brian Kilmead’s “man bag”, I always wonder what this Foster’s TV ad is trying to convey. Perhaps its best to not worry about what the ad means or where the humor is and try the product its advertising. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. It does not share one most obvious trait in common with American beer, and usually comes pretty cheap too. A result all in all. Get the band round and get the crates in, surely like the beer, inspiration will flow.

We all know that insuring your home and your life are pretty common these days, with so many websites offering you the chance to compare your car insurance and compare caravan insurance, it is very common indeed. Although just what will the rich and fabulous insure and how shocked are we, the general public, at their attempts to protect their prized assets?

Merv Hughes for example (former Australian Bowler) wanted to protect his famous moustache, so much so that he took out insurance on his facial hair for £225,000.

If you are into your American Football, you will know full well that the players are muscle-men who have no fear at all, unless of course the player is Troy Polamalu. Troy famous for his bushy long mane took out insurance to ensure his hair was very well protected. His hair is not insured for a shocking £650,000, which would buy him plenty of hair cuts if he happened to get a split end.

How much is your voice worth? Well if you are Bruce Springsteen, it is insured for an astonishing £3.5 million, of course being famous for his voice, Bruce can be accused of being very thoughtful and protective of his livelihood and earning power.

We all know Ken Dodd, or if you don’t know the name, the picture will bring back the memories, particularly of the teeth. Perhaps they are not the best gnashers in the world of Celebrities, but Ken is so proud of his teeth that he had them insured for £4 million, no joke.

If you could bend it like Beckham, no one would blame you for taking out insurance on your legs, so for the man himself to do the same is no huge surprise, seeing as his living is made from playing football. Although the amount his pins are now insured for may make you choke on your cornflakes a little. £44 million, which for many is more money than we can possibly imagine, for David that is the cost of ruining his career, we couldn’t possibly imagine him struggling – even with the help of the insurance payout. Could any footballer do one better than Mr Goldenballs? It appears so as Christiano Ronaldo has had his pins insured for more than his is worth. Being brought by real Madrid for £80 million, his legs are insured for a staggering £90 million.

Who else can top the leg insurance? Miss Venus herself of course – Mariah Carey, who has her legs insured for £636 million. No that is not a typo, she has the most expensive legs in showbiz when she signed to represent Gillette’s Legs of a Goddess Campaign.

OK, I have a new favourite ad. You might have seen it already cos when it came on TV the other night and I went crazy watching it, my flatmate just looked at me like I was crazy, and said “Have you not seen this before?” I guess working at the bar most nights I don’t watch nearly as much TV as I used. Usually that’s a good thing, but there occasional moments when the TV guys get it right, and the new Kronenbourg 1664 ad is one of those moments.

Funny, but my previous favourite ad was for a beer too; the Fosters beer ones with the two beach bum Aussies dispensing advice to troubled Poms. But those have been around for a while now, so it’s probably time for the “Best Ad” crown to be passed on.

So, the new Kronenbourg 1664 ad is a definite contender, if not the out-and-out front runner. Their new slogan is “Slow the Pace”. I guess they’re trying to be a bit like Guiness with their “Good Things Come To Those Who……Wait” ads. The cool thing about the 1664 campaign is the music.

The mighty Lemmy, of Motorhead fame, has re-recorded the iconic Ace of Spades at a pedestrian pace to fit with the new ad slogan. I’m ashamed to say, it took me a couple of seconds to figure out the tune the first time I heard it, but as soon as Lemmy started singing, I was amazed.

The tune actually suits being slowed down, especially now Lemmy is getting on in years! It takes a great musician to make one of the greatest hard rock songs of all time sound like a pretty great country track, but that’s just what he’s done. Lemmy even turns his hand (or should that be mouth?) to some harmonica, which is something I never thought I’d see.

I have to admit that opinion in the bar is divided, but the doom and gloomers who are slagging Lemmy off for selling out and killing a great song are way outnumbered by those of us who love it. There’s even talk of mounting a Facebook campaign to have it launched as a single, then we can get it on the jukebox in the bar and annoy all the guys who hate it by using my staff key to play it over and over again!! Ha!
